Kenya, at the edge of the dry season

Elephant in the Maasai Mara, Kenya., Menkor media library.

October in Kenya is not a blank month between seasons. Asilia Africa, writing on when to go, describes June to October as the dry season across most of the country, and the usual best window for a safari. The same account places the wildebeest migration in the Masai Mara from July to October. October itself is the turn. The dry season is ending and the short rains are approaching. Until the rain actually arrives, many parks are at their driest, with thinner cover and wildlife gathered at water. The tail of the migration is moving south toward Tanzania. The first half of the month is often warm and sunny. The second half is milder as rain comes closer. North, centre, south and coast do not share one sky.

That is a Kenya brief, not an “Africa season”. Other parks and other countries keep their own calendars. If the trip is meant for somewhere else on the continent, say so. This page does not borrow dates from Botswana, Tanzania or South Africa and pretend they belong to the Mara. A safari private jet charter starts with the parks you actually want, and with the weeks those parks are worth visiting.

Why the aircraft is a long-range question

Most of these journeys are not a short hop at the end of a commercial day. The party wants to arrive with time still in the week, and to leave when the guide says the light has gone, not when a published bank of seats says so. That is a long-range private jet hire more often than a small cabin. Menkor’s Gulfstream G800 charter page is one place to start the conversation. It does not mean that aircraft is the only answer, and this article does not repeat performance figures. The Dassault Falcon 8X is another long-range type that can be arranged through Menkor, again without a spreadsheet of speeds and seats on a destination page.

If neither name is right for the party, the long-range jet category shows the wider set. The match is the number of people, the bags, the night sectors, and whether anyone needs to sleep. A luxury private jet that is too small for the group, or too much aircraft for a short repositioning, is a poor fit either way. The aircraft pages are there so the brief can be compared with real categories, not with a guessed registration.

Weather slack, not a promise of game

Asilia’s October note is a planning caution, not a guarantee of what you will see. Herds move. Rain can arrive earlier in one county than another. A private jet charter does not change that. What it changes is the ability to put a spare half-day into the sketch, or to move a departure if a park morning is the one worth keeping. Build the trip with that slack. Do not build it as a chain of tight connections and then hope the short rains wait.

If the journey is remote enough that you want a medical plan written down before you go, that is a separate arrangement. Menkor also organises air ambulance and medical repatriation when a trip needs it. It is not part of the safari aircraft, and it is not a description of medical equipment. It is simply the door to open if that subject belongs in the brief.

The part you should not have to run

Menkor arranges the charter. It does not operate the flight as an airline. You set the parks, the camp nights that are already held, and the mornings that must stay free. The aircraft is matched to that route and that party. Ground handling is coordinated so the arrival is a handover, not a second piece of admin on the apron. The timing stays flexible when a storm or a guide’s advice moves the day. You are there for the seasonal destination. The private jet hire is the means, and someone else is holding it.

Ask for a quote

Write with the parks, the dates you can move, and the dates you cannot. If October’s weather in a given year does not resemble the pattern above, the quote should follow the camps and the forecast, not this article. Request a quote. no price on this page. A safari charter is priced from the brief, not from a seasonal tariff.
